3. How we use it, and why

The law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of your data. These are ours:

Legal and administrative obligations Keeping records we are required to keep, and responding to lawful requests from authorities.

Lawful basis: legal obligation.

We do not sell your data, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

4. Cookies and advertising

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Some are strictly necessary for the page and the registration form to work, and are always on. Others help us measure our advertising, and are only used if you choose "Accept" in our cookie notice. Choosing "Reject" has no effect on your registration.

Our advertising cookies come from the Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms, owner of Facebook and Instagram). With your consent, it tells Meta that you visited the page or opened the registration form, so we can see which adverts work and show them to people with similar interests. Meta processes this data under its own privacy policy.

The registration form is provided by Typeform and opens within our page. Typeform uses its own cookies to run the form.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser, after which we will ask again. You can also block cookies in your browser settings.

5. Who we share it with

We share your data only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it secure and use it only on our instructions:

  • Typeform — registration form.
  • Pluga — connects the registration form to our client management system.
  • Bitrix24 — our client management system, where our team keeps your registration and follow-up.
  • ActiveCampaign — confirmation emails and reminders.
  • HostGator — hosts this website.
  • Meta Platforms — advertising measurement, only if you accept cookies; and WhatsApp, only if you agree to be contacted there.

We may also share data with our professional advisers, or where the law requires it. The lawyer speaking at the event does not receive your registration details. If, after the event, you ask to be put in touch with a lawyer, mortgage broker or other professional, we will only pass on your details with your agreement.

6. International transfers

We are based in Portugal, which is in the European Economic Area. The UK recognises the EEA as providing an adequate level of protection, so your data can flow to us without additional safeguards.

Some of our providers are based in, or use servers in, other countries, including the United States and Brazil. Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on a UK adequacy decision (including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, for certified US companies) or on contractual safeguards approved under UK law, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for more detail.

7. How long we keep it

  • Event registrations and one-to-one notes: up to 24 months after the event, unless you become a client, in which case we keep what is needed for the length of our relationship and any legal record-keeping period.
  • Marketing preferences: until you withdraw your consent. We keep a short record that you opted out, so we do not contact you again by mistake.
  • Advertising cookies: for the period set out in Meta's own policy, and only if you accepted them.

When data is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data;
  • ask us to restrict how we use it;
  • object to our use of it based on legitimate interests and, at any time and without giving a reason, to direct marketing;
  • receive the data you gave us in a commonly used format, or have it sent to another organisation;
  • withdraw your consent at any time. This does not affect anything we did before you withdrew it.

To use any of these rights, email patilemos@voumudarparaportugal.com. It is free, and we will reply within one month. We may need to confirm your identity first. To stop WhatsApp or SMS messages, you can also just reply to any of them and ask us to stop.

9. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.

As we are based in Portugal, you may also contact the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD): cnpd.pt.

10. Security, age and changes

We use access controls, secure connections and reputable providers to protect your data, and only team members who need it can see it. No system is completely secure, so if we ever have a breach that puts your rights at risk, we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires.

Our events and services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed, and if a change affects you significantly, we will let you know.
